We can’t quite believe it’s that time of the month again and the end of Q1!
At the end of every month we catch you up on some of the biggest social media changes.
So, let’s dive in 👇🏼
March Social Media Updates...
YouTube is upgrading its analytics tool
YouTube is adding audience segments into its “Audience Retention” report, which will enable channel managers to compare viewer engagement for different audience groups.
In a couple of weeks time you will be able to compare “New” and “Returning” viewers and how they’re engaging with your content, which will give you more ways to refine your approach based on each group.
You’ll also be able to see “Subscribed” versus “Non-subscribed” viewer retention, which could be helpful in understanding what’s driving your subscriber growth.
Now it’s a great time to get started on YouTube.
LinkedIn’s Rolling out Company Page Messaging to All Brands
LinkedIn has confirmed that Pages Messaging is being rolled out to all businesses from this week.
As you can see in this example, A “Message” button will be added to your company profile within LinkedIn, this will allow page visitors to get in touch with you much easier than before. Page admins are able to see messages to pages in addition to their personal inbox.
But, don’t worry! If this update isn’t for you it can be enabled or disabled via your inbox settings.
LinkedIn’s also partnering with various third party platforms to facilitate company messaging via social management tools - win-win for those who love to be efficient!
Instagram Tests Option To Comment on Specific Frames Within a Carousel Update
Instagram’s testing out a new way to comment on specific images within a carousel post, with some users able to link their reply to a photo or video, based on its assigned number in the display.
This is another way to drive more focused engagement, and encourage more interaction around each element, while also clearing up confusion when commenting on carousel posts.
‼️Just when we thought Social Media Marketing couldn’t get any more important than it already is...
Google Adds Social Media Posts to Business Listings
Last October Google added a game changing feature - being able to add your social profiles to your Google My Business Profile. This update was very well received and so now google has added a new section within its business listings in Search, which displays recent social media posts from your connected profiles.
As you can see in this image, shared by Search Engine Journal, Google Business profiles now have a new sub-section titled “Social Media Updates,” which displays the latest posts from your linked social apps.
If you haven’t already you can connect your social media profiles through your Google Business dashboard.
This is a great update, and given the power of Google for driving traffic, it’s definitely another element that you should be considering for your Google Business listing.
Another platform upgrading their analytics tool - TikTok
Creator Search Insights: a new tool, available in select regions, that gives creators insight into topics people are searching for on TikTok.
Creators can start tapping into these insights by typing "Creator Search Insights" in the search bar (creators will soon be able to find it directly from Creator Tools, in Settings).
Creator Search Insights will surface topics that are searched for often. Topics can be sorted by category (like tourism, sports, and science) or For You (topics related to the type of content you create).
You can also filter for content gap topics. These topics are searched for often, but aren't featured in a large number of videos on TikTok. This is a great feature for content planning!
😱 New Social Media app on the horizon…
TikTok’s Reportedly Testing a New Instagram-Like Photos App
TikTok could be eyeing a new way to take on Instagram, with a new “TikTok Photos” app reportedly in development.
TikTok users will soon be prompted to share their still images to the new app, in order to “reach like-minded people who enjoy photo posts.
And that is your March Social Media updates.
